Facebook faces antitrust suit in California over allegations of social media monopolization

( February 16, 2021, 18:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook has been hit by another in a series of antitrust suits in the Northern District of California that echo allegations made by the US Federal Trade Commission and a group of states. “Facebook’s monopolistic conduct violates the antitrust laws and harms consumers. Facebook is dominant in the Social Network Market and has engaged in predatory and exclusionary conduct in order to monopolize, causing Plaintiff and Class members to suffer substantial economic injury as a result of Facebook’s competition-reducing violations of law,” alleges the complaint by plaintiff Joe Kovacevich, a Wisconsin Facebook user who is seeking treble damages on behalf of a class of Facebook users.
