Japan's instant-messaging app operator LY Corp reports data breach in cyberattack affecting business accounts

( August 27, 2024, 06:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: LY Corp, the operator of the popular Japanese LINE messaging app, reported on Aug. 26 that hackers had gained unauthorized access to some of its LINE official accounts that require a LINE business ID. It said it detected an increase in the number of failed login attempts on July 19, which took place between July 10 and 18. The affected business accounts gave hackers access to user profiles and private chats between users and business accounts. Some users were also sent messages with suspicious content. LY Corp said it has initiated password resets and has deactivated affected accounts. The statement, in Japanese, is below....
