Uber CEO says EU should develop gig workers' framework, with industry-wide standards

He said the EU needs "new solutions to standardize and improve access to protections and benefits for independent workers." Uber is working with the European Commission on its review of potential barriers to collective bargaining. The comments come ahead of a consultation on Feb. 24, when the European Commission will seek comments from workers and employers’ representatives on gig workers’ rights, before drafting laws on the subject by year-end.As European cities came to a standstill over the past year, platform workers have played a critical role in continuing to move what matters.
