Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton steps down, following Australian money-laundering report

( February 15, 2021, 04:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia’s embattled Crown Resorts has announced that its chief executive officer, Ken Barton, has agreed to step down from his role, a week after a damning report found that the company was unfit to hold a license for its new Sydney casino because of its failure to prevent money laundering. In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Crown announced that the company’s chair, Helen Coonan, would assume the role of executive chairman on an interim basis. The company said that Barton would assist Coonan in coming weeks “to ensure a smooth handover.” The resignation was sparked by an independent report prepared for the New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.
