EU seeks views on publishers’ rights, ‘panorama’ copyright exception

( March 23, 2016, 12:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission is seeking comments from authors, researchers, publishers and online-service providers on the prospect of extending “neighboring rights” — those that aren’t strictly linked to the author of a work — to publishers. The executive also wants to know whether there is an appetite for inserting into copyright protection a so-called “panorama” exception covering the use of images of buildings, sculptures and monuments.
