Adult sites Xpanded, SoSpoilt adopt age assurance in UK following Ofcom scrutiny

( March 8, 2024, 11:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Adult live streaming platform Xpanded and influencer platform SoSpoilt — which also hosts non-adult content — have both adopted age assurance for UK visitors following the enforcement program into the video-sharing sector by the media and online safety regulator. Both platforms now offer four types of age assurance. Additionally, SoSpoilt, owned by Ampay Ltd, will ensure that under-18s can only access age-appropriate content. Collaboration and swift action by Ampay and Visional Media Ltd — the owner of Xpanded — meant that Ofcom did not open formal investigations into them. Ofcom’s duties to oversee UK-based video-sharing platforms under the Communications Act 2003 will transition to new powers under the Online Safety Act, with wider requirements for age assurance.Press release follows, case details attached:...
