Claims that Plaid violated users' privacy will move forward, US judge says

Some of the claims may "get knocked out, but the case will go forward,” she said. Venmo app users allege Plaid violated federal and state privacy laws by amassing a "trove of data" by exploiting its role as a "middleman" between banks and payment apps.  Allegations that Plaid, a financial-technology startup that connects users' bank accounts to payment apps like Venmo and Stripe, violated customers’ privacy by accessing and selling their banking information without permission will move forward, a federal magistrate judge in San Francisco said today....
