Dutch Competition Authority: NMa levies antitrust fines for taxi cartel

( March 4, 2013, 09:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Dutch competition authority, the NMa, has fined three taxi companies and six executives for illegal cartel agreements relating to the procurement of contracts for transporting schoolchildren and disabled, elderly and sick people. The Rotterdamse Mobiliteit Centrale was ordered to pay the largest fine, set at 8.3 million euros. The BIOS-group has to pay 643,000 euros and a group of six executives were fined 120,000 euros each. IJsselsteden Taxi Combinatie was fined a symbolic 1,000 euros because the company went bankrupt in 2010. The parties had divided the market in Rotterdam, with each agreeing to stay in their own area.The full press release follows....
