Online platforms should report crimes, update to Germany's hate-speech law proposes

( September 9, 2020, 10:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Social networks will have to report serious crimes to Germany's federal criminal police under draft proposals to update the country's Network Enforcement Act, which would impose more requirements on online platforms. Users should be given the right means to delete posts online and have more opportunities to report hate speech, the Federal Justice Ministry said in a statement today on the proposals. The draft text of the law, which aims to counter hate speech online, has now been forwarded to Germany's parliament. Statement follows in German....
