Indonesian lubricant lobby accuses vehicle agents of forcing products on customers

Aspelindo Development Division Chief Andria Nusa said customers were often forced by authorized vehicle agents and sole distributors to pay for particular lubricants when having their vehicles serviced at authorized repair workshops. He said the practice had caused unfair competition. Consumers also no longer had the right to choose products, which was against Law No. 8 of 1999 on consumer protection, he added. Aspelindo said it had reported the issue to the energy ministry, which issues licenses for lubricants....
