Naver to appeal KFTC's antitrust decision over the protection of a patent right

( September 7, 2020, 03:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s largest Internet company Naver said it will consider taking legal action in response to a decision by the Korea Fair Trade Commission to fine the company 1 billion won ($866,200) for abuse of dominance conduct in the real-estate search market. The company said that a contract clause that the KFTC took issue with designed to prevent its rival Kakao to free ride on its property-sale information filtering system, which was developed through Naver's investment to distinguish genuine property-sale information from fake ones — a filtering system for which the company was granted patent protection.
