Spanish car-rental companies' online behavior targeted by UK regulator

( March 25, 2019, 11:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Spanish car-rental companies Centauro Rent-a-Car and Record Go Alquiler Vacacional have been ordered to make changes to their online booking practices, following an intervention by the UK Competition & Markets Authority on consumer-law grounds. The CMA has closed its inquiry into Centauro, but has referred one outstanding matter to the Spanish enforcement authorities concerning Record Go Alquiler Vacacional. Five other companies — Avis Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt — have made changes to deliver on previous commitments about how they display charges and other key information on their websites, the CMA said. In 2015, the companies made a series of commitments to the CMA, the European Commission and other authorities across Europe.
