Apple's decade-long abuse of App Store punished by EU regulator with EUR1.8 billion fine

( March 4, 2024, 12:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission said Apple had made life difficult for iPhone users and app developers to benefit from cheaper means of subscribing to music services outside of the company's App Store and this deserved a 1.8 billion-euro sanction. The regulator said Apple had imposed unfair trading terms by using "anti-steering" provisions that stopped developers pointing to alternative ways to subscribe at cheaper rates outside of Apple's ecosystem.
