However, with its first decision to block a merger under the current legal regime, the regulator also showed it must be taken seriously and is willing to take extreme measures. In 2015, the agency will issue decisions in two important cases involving the logistics and telecom markets, and publish further regulation on notification of transactions, completing a push for clarification of new concepts undertaken in 2014. The Brazilian antitrust authority showed in 2014 that it can be flexible in merger negotiations, accepting creative remedies and being open to uniform approaches in international deals....
