Amazon.com fails to dismiss US case over voiceprints

( February 5, 2021, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Amazon.com lost a bid to dismiss claims filed on behalf of a minor regarding the collection of voiceprints by Alexa-enabeld devices. US District Judge Franklin U. Valderrama concluded that plaintiffs adequately alleged injuries in fact for all of their claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act such that they have standing, and the court has jurisdiction. Valderrama said two adult plaintiffs’ claims must go to arbitration because they accepted Amazon’s conditions of use. However, the minor’s claims may be litigated in court because they were not signatories to the COUs or Amazon’s terms of use.See document below. ...
