India bans another 118 Chinese-linked apps, claiming 'stealing' of users' data

( September 2, 2020, 22:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned 118 mobile apps with links to China, including the popular gaming app PUBG, citing national security interests. MeitY said it had received  reports about mobile apps “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data … to servers which have locations outside India.” The government banned 59 apps in June and another 47 in July. WeChat Work and a cloud storage service Tencent Weiyun are also included in the latest ban. The government's press release is below. ...
