Google faces new Brazil scraping probe focused on search, news markets

By Ana Paula Candil ( July 17, 2019, 16:34 GMT | Insight) -- Google is the target of a new Brazilian competition authority preliminary probe looking into alleged abuse of its dominance in the search and news markets. The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, queried the search giant on whether it has ever engaged in anticompetitive practices related to scraping in Brazil, requiring  a response by Aug. 8. In a petition filed yesterday in the case file, Google asked CADE for an additional 30 days to answer the question.Google is the target of a new Brazilian competition authority preliminary probe looking into alleged abuse of its dominance in the search and news markets....
