Telia Finland must restore roaming on old mobile contracts, regulator says

( July 14, 2017, 08:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Finnish mobile operator Telia has been ordered to re-enable roaming on contracts that pre-date the entry into force of EU roaming rules. Telia must re-enable the facility on voice and SMS as of end-August, and on data as of end-October. Roaming was an integral feature of mobile contracts, and the operator lacked the right to unilaterally disable it when new EU regulations that banned surcharges for the service came into force on June 15. The Finnish regulator has advised customers who believe Telia has breached their subscription contract to lodge a complaint. But the operator remains entitled to disable roaming services on new contracts, the authority says.The full statement (in Finnish):...
