At the start of the three-day hearing at the EU General Court, the European Commission said the contracts fit with a “pattern” of behavior, squeezing out competitors, locking in customers and not competing “on the merits.”Google has said that a fine of 1.49 billion euros ($1.6 billion), levied for abusive ad contracts with websites, failed to analyze the real effects on the market, disregarded “pro-competitive justifications,” and constituted an “unwarranted expansion” in investigating exclusive business relations....
