DOJ's Baer testifies before Congress, asks for additional funding to promote competition

( March 9, 2016, 19:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Assistant Attorney General Bill Baer delivered testimony on behalf of the US Department of Justice before the US Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights on Wednesday. Baer said the DOJ works to achieve its mission of enforcing antitrust laws “in a vigorous, transparent, even-handed and fact-based fashion in order to ensure that consumers benefit from a competitive marketplace.” Baer also said that the DOJ is currently facing a “daunting” workload and urged Congress to grant it an additional $16 million in funding in order to promote competition and protect consumers from economic harm.Statement follows in full. ...
