THL's acquisition of Apollo Tourism & Leisure faces mounting regulatory pressure in New Zealand

( April 28, 2022, 10:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tourism operator THL Group's move to acquire Australia’s Apollo Tourism & Leisure is facing regulatory pushback, with New Zealand’s competition watchdog tonight taking the unusual step of publishing a statement of unresolved issues relating to the deal. In a statement published late on Thursday, the New Zealand Commerce Commission said that the statement outlines its concerns with the acquisition following its initial investigation. The regulator said that although today’s statement doesn’t suggest the deal will be blocked, it nonetheless highlights concerns about horizontal unilateral effects resulting from a loss of competition in the market for the supply of motorhome rental services in New Zealand. The Commerce Commission has set June 30 as the final decision deadline. The full statement from the New Zealand Commerce Commission follows; the statement of unresolved issues is attached. ...
