Australian brick manufacturer Brickworks takes rival BGC to court over alleged anticompetitive conduct

By Ryan Cropp ( February 22, 2024, 04:32 GMT | Insight) -- Two of Australia's biggest building-materials empires will go head-to-head in court in 2025, after Brickworks Ltd and its subsidiary Austral Bricks accused rival BGC of anticompetitive conduct in the market for clay bricks in Western Australia. In documents filed with the Federal Court of Australia and seen by MLex, Brickworks and Austral allege that BGC engaged in predatory pricing from November 2017 to September 2021, while also breaching competition law through its purchase of Midland Brick in April 2021.
