Swedish Energy Regulator: Energy tariffs to be determined in advance

( March 11, 2009, 11:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- ****************************************MLex Summary: The Swedish energy regulator, Energimarknadsinspektionen, has submitted a proposal to the government which would lead to energy tariffs to be set on an ex-ante rather than ex-post basis. The change means that the regulator will set the wholesale tariffs network owners can charge for a four-year period, and tariffs will be set to cover the costs and a reasonable return on investment. At the moment, wholesale energy tariffs are analysed retrospectively, and the change is designed to improve the predictability of energy prices for consumers. The proposal is expected to be heard in parliament before summer....
