Music publishers tell US court putting guardrails on Anthropic's AI models wouldn't harm innovation

( February 14, 2024, 16:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Recording Industry Association of America, National Music Publishers and other trade groups filed a US brief in support of music publishers' request for an injunction in their copyright case against Anthropic, arguing that technological progress in artificial intelligence should not create an exception to well-settled copyright principles. “The relief the motion seeks, if granted, will not cause any colorable harm to Anthropic, let alone to the field of AI more generally. To the contrary, allowing Anthropic’s infringement to continue unabated will harm content owners such as those represented by Amici, and their licensees, and encourage others to similarly infringe,” they said.
