Broadcom-Brocade deal cleared by the FTC with conditions

( July 3, 2017, 16:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Federal Trade Commission has approved computer chipmaker Broadcom's acquisition of network equipment maker Brocade Communications Systems with conditions. The companies agreed to establish a firewall to remedy the FTC's concerns with the proposed $5.9 billion transaction. The FTC had concerns that with Broadcom's access to the confidential business information of Brocade's major competitor, Cisco Systems, the company could use the information to restrain competition or slow innovation in the worldwide market for fibre channel switches.Statement follows in full....
