​ACCC appeals loss in egg cartel case

( March 2, 2016, 04:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission is appealing the Federal Court’s decision to dismiss proceedings against Australian Egg Corp and four other corporate and individual respondents. The ACCC had accused the respondents of attempting to induce egg producers to enter into an arrangement to restrict the supply of eggs, but the court said the antitrust watchdog had failed to establish that the actions taken by the respondents to address an oversupply of eggs constituted cartel conduct. The ACCC said it was important that it sought clarity from the Full Court on issues of what would and would not constitute attempted cartel conduct.The regulator's full statement follows:...
