Federal Circuit knocks out damage award against Samsung in second patent case against Apple

( February 26, 2016, 16:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has reversed decisions by US District Judge Lucy Koh affirming a $120 million verdict against Samsung following a trial in May 2014. The Federal Circuit reversed Koh's denial of Samsung motions for judgment as a matter of law that the three Apple patents Samsung was found to have infringed were either invalid or not infringed, finding no infringement of Apple's '647 because Apple had failed to prove use of an analyzer server, and that patents for an iPhone's "slide to unlock" and autocorrect features were invalid because they were obvious based on prior art. The court affirmed, however, Apple's infringement of Samsung's '449 patent, leaving in place $158,400 in damages against Apple. Please see attached decision....
