Barclays 'considering its position' following SFO fraud charges

( June 20, 2017, 07:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Barclays said today that it is "considering its position" in relation to fraud charges brought by the UK's Serious Fraud Office. The authority today charged Barclays Plc and four of its senior executives with fraud over a 7 billion pound ($8.9 billion today) loan issued by a unit of Qatar's sovereign wealth fund during the 2008 financial crisis. They were also charged in relation to a $3 billion loan facility Barclays made available to the state of Qatar in the same year. Barclays also said that the prosecutor "has not made a decision as to whether it will also bring charges against Barclays Bank Plc" in respect of the loan to State of Qatar.Full statement follows. ...
