Subsidiaries of Japan's NTT West receive corrective recommendations for data breach involving 9.3 million customers
By Sachiko Sakamaki ( January 24, 2024, 11:31 GMT | Insight) -- Subsidiaries of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West today received corrective recommendations from Japan's data-protection agency for the breach of data belonging to 9.28 million customers by a former temporary staff member. NTT Marketing Act ProCX and NTT Business Solutions were told to report to the Personal Information Protection Commission about the mismanagement of the data by Feb. 29 and submit preventative measures by March 29.Japan's privacy regulator said today that the personal information of 9.28 million individuals was illegally copied and possibly provided to third parties from NTT Marketing and NTT Business Solutions, which are subsidiaries of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West, or NTT West, by a temporary former staff member (see here)....
