Japan NTT West subsidiaries given corrective recommendation for leaking personal data of over 9 million individuals

( January 24, 2024, 08:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan’s call center operators NTT Marketing Act ProCX and NTT Business Solutions were issued corrective recommendations by the Japan Personal Information Protection Commission after a former staff member leaked the personal information of at least 9 million individuals between 2013 and 2023. ProCX’s data compliance and incident analysis continues to be inadequate and the commission gave instructions for improvements and report updates. Similarly, NTT Business Solutions was found lacking in its internal probe of the incidents and current data compliance. It was issued with recommendations, improvement instructions and reports for fact-finding and preventive measures.
