Telefónica, Italian shareholders notify CADE of Telco demerger plan

( November 25, 2014, 17:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Spanish telecom Telefónica and Italian shareholders Assicurazioni Generali, Mediobanca and Intesa Sanpaolo have notified the Brazilian competition authority of their demerger plan, in which the Italian shareholders will withdraw from Telco, a holding company that holds 22.4 percent of Telecom Italia. Telefónica, which also notified the regulator today of its plans to acquire Brazilian broadband unit GVT Participações, said that potential competition concerns about Telefónica's indirect stake in Telecom Italia have already been mitigated by the GVT buyout, because part of Telefónica's stake in Telco will transfer to Vivendi as part of that transaction.Read the full statement in Portuguese below....
