Brill warns small companies as well as large to stay current with data security protections

( February 9, 2016, 22:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Speaking at a Federal Trade Commission data-security event in Seattle, Commissioner Julie Brill said small Internet companies must make the same efforts to provide strong data security as big companies do. While Brill noted the FTC has brought enforcment actions against big companies it has also brought many against small companies. "These days, many small app and device developers are creating products and services that are handling sensitive personal information, which if not properly secured can cause substantial harm to consumers. Small companies can also get big very quickly. Neither new technologies nor small companies get a pass under the FTC Act," Brill warned.See document below....
