Japan's Sekisui House to acquire US homebuilder M.D.C. Holdings for nearly $5 billion

( January 19, 2024, 02:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Major Japanese housing company Sekisui House said that it has agreed to buy all shares of M.D.C. Holdings, a Colorado-based homebuilder, for nearly $5 billion, through its US subsidiary SH Residential Holdings. Sekisui has been expanding its homebuilding business in such US states as California, Washington and Texas. Through the acquisition, Sekisui will establish its position as the fifth-largest homebuilder in the US, based on the number of house closings in fiscal year 2022, said the Osaka-based company. Sekisui is aiming to close the deal by the end of June, subject to approval from the shareholders of M.D.C, listed at the New York Stock Exchange, as well as approval from government authorities and other closing conditions.The statement is attached....
