DC, Maryland sue Trump alleging businesses violate Emoluments Clause of US Constitution

( June 12, 2017, 17:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: DC and Maryland have sued President Donald Trump, alleging that his businesses violate the Emolument Clause of the US Constitution. They say their ability to tax and regulate the businesses is harmed by perceived or actual "pressure to grant special treatment to the defendant." They also say that they suffer direct financial harm in their roles as proprietors of businesses because Trump-affiliated businesses divert revenue. The complaint said the real estate properties at issue are the Trump International Hotel in DC, and Trump Towers and Trump World Tower in New York. Also at issue are Trump trademarks and the syndication of the television show "The Apprentice," among other business interests. Please see attached document....
