Media publishers ask to back states against Google move to dismiss US ad-tech antitrust case

( March 25, 2022, 00:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of newspaper and magazine publishers that are plaintiffs in antitrust litigation alleging illegal anticompetitive conduct by Google in its ad-tech business asked a US judge for permission to file a joint amicus brief backing Texas and other state plaintiffs in opposition to Google's motion to dismiss the states' separate claims. In the proposed amicus filing, the publishers argue Google's alleged efforts to entrench its monopoly power must be analyzed as a single anticompetitive scheme rather than a string of separate events. "Because the various strands of Google’s alleged misconduct, each of which is independently actionable, present such synergistic effects, . .. they are appropriately part of a single strand of conduct with cumulative anticompetitive effects," the publishers argue in their proposed brief.See attached letter and proposed amicus filing....
