Swedish Competition Authority: KKV fines tyre suppliers over bid-rigging

( November 24, 2010, 08:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Swedish competition authority has fined two tyre suppliers, Däckia and Euromaster, a total of around nine million kronor (963,000 euro) for rigging bids for public tenders in 2005. Euromaster claims to be the European market leader in tyre distribution with operations in 10 countries, and Däckia was owned by Tyremaker Goodyear at the time of the infringement. The two firms were capable of submitting their own bids, but decided to ask the industry association to submit the bids instead. The cooperation also included smaller firms, but the authority decided to only fine the two largest ones for 'process-economical' reasons. The full statement follows (in Swedish):...
