Trump administration's tariffs set back US solar projects, report says

( February 12, 2019, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US trade investigation on crystalline silicon solar modules and cells were among the factors that led to uncertainty for the domestic solar industry in 2017, according to a report from the Solar Foundation. The investigation resulted in a 30 percent tariff on solar cell imports ordered under Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974. Another factor was the national security tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum imports. "While not as severe as they could have been, the tariffs (coupled with other newly-imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum) still increased hardware costs above baseline expectations and restrained industry growth," the report said.Statement and document follow below:...
