Malaysia's personal data-protection regulator to draw up seven new guidelines

( January 17, 2024, 08:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Department is collaborating with a company under the Ministry of Finance, Futurise, to develop seven new personal data-protection standards and guidelines. These will cover data-breach notifications, data-protection officers, or DPOs, data-portability rights, cross-border transfers, data-protection impact assessments, privacy by design, and automated individual decision making and profiling. The two agencies will also develop a Personal Data Protection Management Portal for knowledge sharing and registration of DPOs, and a planned training and certification program for DPOs in line with proposed amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.The full statement follows: ...
