Indonesian parliamentary committee prepares inquiry into anticorruption agency

( June 9, 2017, 10:00 GMT | Insight) -- The Indonesian House of Representatives' special committee on the Corruption Eradication Commission, or KPK, inquiry has held its first meeting yesterday, Tempo and the Jakarta Post report.The Indonesian House of Representatives' special committee on the Corruption Eradication Commission, or KPK, inquiry has held its first meeting yesterday, Tempo and the Jakarta Post report. The committee's chairman, Agun Gunandjar Sudarsana, said that it would list individuals to be summoned in the investigative process and determine the mechanisms for the inquiry before making public announcements, Tempo reported. In response to that, the KPK said it would would seek ways to prevent an inquiry, saying that the House genuinely wanted to reduce its powers. The House launched efforts to probe the KPK after the agency alleged that several lawmakers were involved in corruption related to national ID-card procurement, the Jakarta Post reported....
