CCI closes antitrust probe of government body in charge of cooperative societies

( November 20, 2014, 07:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Competition Commission of India has decided not to further investigate allegations of anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance against the Registrar Cooperative Societies of Punjab, a government body that monitors the functioning of cooperative societies. The registrar was accused of acting in favor of one cooperative society in the supply of fertilizer, micro-nutrients and pesticides. The CCI closed the case because the registrar doesn’t fit the definition of an enterprise in the Competition Act.The full statement is attached....
