Facebook is dominant on the market for social networks, Bundeskartellamt says

( February 7, 2019, 09:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Consumers will be able to prevent Facebook from collecting and using their data without restriction in the future, after Germany's Federal Cartel Office imposed far-reaching restrictions on the company. The social network won't be allowed to force its users to agree to the current unrestricted collection and assigning of non-Facebook data to their Facebook accounts, the watchdog said. The extent to which Facebook collects, merges and uses data in user accounts constitutes an abuse of a dominant position, the Bundeskartellamt concluded. The decision isn't final, and can be appealed to the higher regional court in Düsseldorf.Statement follows....
