Social media company requests for US Ninth Circuit review are premature, state plaintiffs say

( January 10, 2024, 01:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Social media companies asking US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to certify immediate review by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals are premature, said state plaintiffs seeking to avoid “piecemeal appeals” in their case involving, in part, addiction to the platforms by adolescents.  The companies had argued for quick clarity on the First Amendment and Communications Decency Act Section 230 applications against plaintiff failure-to-warn and design-defect claims, which the states said should be denied “because motions to dismiss addressing related questions of law are still pending before the Court.”See document below. ...
