Soitec, silicon-wafer makers draw scrutiny from EU antitrust watchdog

By Matthew Newman ( January 5, 2024, 15:10 GMT | Insight) -- Soitec, a French manufacturer of semiconductor materials, has drawn scrutiny from the European Commission for "potential" exchanges of non-described "commercially sensitive information" with licensees, MLex has learned. The commission has sent formal information requests as part of an initial probe into whether Soitec has exchanged sensitive information with its licensees Shin-Etsu Handotai, GlobalWafers and Shanghai Simgui Technology Co Ltd, which are Asia-based silicon-wafer makers, MLex was told.
