Ryanair drops appeals of Covid aid programs to TAP, Finnair, Aegean Airlines, EU court documents show

( January 2, 2024, 14:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ryanair has abandoned its legal challenges of national aid programs to the benefit of Transportes Aéreos Portugueses, Finnair and Aegean Airlines, according to EU General Court orders recently published. The Irish budget airline decided to discontinue its appeals of three Portuguese measures in favor of TAP, namely: a 107.1 million-euro support plan, a 71.4 million-euro damages program, and a 462 million-euro measure to compensate it for Covid-related losses. In addition, Ryanair decided to drop its legal challenge of a Greek government grant of 120 million euros to Aegean Airlines, as well as Finland's hybrid loan worth 351.4 million euros in favor of Finnair, which were also meant to compensate those airlines during the pandemic.The court orders are attached.
