A preliminary investigation uncovered suspected money laundering activity through MBI Group’s many subsidiaries, including hotels and apartments, worth some 2 billion baht. Police have asked the Department of Special Investigation and the Anti-Money Laundering Office to track the group’s money trail. MBI Group is potentially linked to last month’s shooting of Malaysian developer Lee Ah Han, who operated one of its hotels in Songkhla and maintained numerous links with police and state officials in the province....
