Application period of EU energy-crisis laws formally prolonged, Council of the EU says

( December 26, 2023, 09:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Three key EU emergency laws — adopted during the 2022 energy price crisis — will now apply for longer, after EU countries formally adopted their extension, the Council of the EU has said. EU rules on promoting solidarity will remain in place until the end of 2024. Provisions on protecting EU citizens and the economy against excessively high prices will continue to apply until the end of January 2025. Another law, on the deployment of renewable energy, will apply until the end of June 2025.
