According to the government’s budget plan for fiscal 2024, the JFTC is likely to see a 6 percent increase from a year ago to a total budget of 12 billion yen ($85.7 million), including the IT-related budget of 358 million yen, requested by the Digital Agency. The JFTC's General Secretariat will see an increase in headcount to a total of 927, at the end of March 2025, with the addition of 12 members to enforce the freelancer-protection law and four others to strengthen competition-policy management.
