Greek banks fined EUR41.8 million for collusion, settle on fixed prices for ATM withdrawals

By Natalie McNelis ( December 22, 2023, 16:35 GMT | Insight) -- Piraeus Bank, the National Bank of Greece, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Attica Bank and the Hellenic Banking Association have today been fined a total of 41.8 million euros by the Greek authority for violation of the country’s competition law. The Greek competition authority's own-initiative investigation uncovered a constellation of collusive activity by the various banks, with the Hellenic Banking Association acting as facilitator. The fines were part of a settlement that also included the authority imposing ceilings on the banks’ charges for ATM withdrawals for a period of three years. Piraeus Bank, the National Bank of Greece, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Attica Bank and the Hellenic Banking Association have today been fined a total of 41.8 euros by the Greek authority for violation of the country’s competition law (see here). ...
