First Global Magnitsky Act report discloses no sanctions yet

( April 20, 2017, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: President Donald Trump issued the first report to Congress under the 2016 Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. The report said that in the first 120 days of the act, no financial sanctions nor visa restrictions were imposed pursuant to the act. However, the executive branch is attempting to identify foreign persons who have engaged in significant corruption or in human rights violations for the purpose of imposing such sanctions. Under the law, annual reports will now be due each December. "With the establishment of the first dedicated global human rights and corruption sanctions program, the United States is uniquely positioned to lead the international community in pursuing accountability abroad consistent with our values," the report said.Please see attached document....
