EU Court sides with Infineon in smart-card-chip cartel fine appeal

( July 8, 2020, 09:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Infineon has secured a 5.9 million-euro antitrust fine reduction at the EU General Court. Judges found that the European Commission fine didn't properly account for the limited number of illegal contacts between Infineon and its rivals. The commission also failed to prove the existence of one of the alleged 11 anticompetitive contacts. The court has lowered Infineon's fine to around 76.9 million euros.Press release follows.
